College opens season with horror production

Theatre Tyler Junior College (TJC) will open its 2024-2025 season with “Frankenstein,” the well-known monster tale by Mary Shelley.

The original novel by Shelley was adapted by playwright Nick Dear. Frankenstein’s monster is grotesque in form but childlike in his innocence, and is thrown into the real world by his maker. The creature is determined to find his creator wherever he goes. Jacob L. Davis, theater professor at TJC, is the director of the production.

Such opening productions can be promoted throughout a campus and the surrounding community with banner printing.

The TJC Cultural Arts District is in the heart of the central campus of the college. It features a variety of science and art programs in four venues that include the Tyler Museum of Art, The Earth and Space Science Center featuring Hudnall Planetarium, the Jean Browne Theatre, and the Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center. Through these venues, TJC offers theatrical performances and productions by renowned dance and music departments, as well as visual artwork.

The show will be performed next Wednesday through Saturday, October 9 through October 12, at 7:30 pm each evening in Wise Auditorium in the Rogers Palmer Performing Arts Center. The price of tickets is $5 for seniors who are 65 years of age and older, active military, and students, while other adults pay $10.
