The Barrel & Bones Craft Bar and Smokehouse recently opened in The Colony.
The restaurant is open seven days a week, serving lunch and dinner. The bar is made from Jack Daniel’s barrels which have been repurposed, and there is a large patio equipped with misters and heaters depending on the weather and televisions for entertainment. Dogs are welcome here.
The menu includes chicken wings, sausage, and brisket, as well as poblano corn fritters and beer can chicken dip. There are also over 200 whiskeys and bourbons from across the state of Texas from which to choose, with a mini-shot served in a mini-mason jar.
Mark Kelcher, co-founder of the Barrel & Bones Craft Bar and Smokehouse, said that the goal of the restaurant is not to compete with concert venues and the like, but to be an alternative to that style of food and entertainment. This involves a unique atmosphere and a wide selection of drinks.
According to Kelcher, the restaurant prides itself on using new culinary styles while respecting the time-honored method of smoking meats. It also offers guests the opportunity to be educated on whiskey history throughout the Prohibition era.
