The Colony to host recycled art contest

Submissions are now being accepted for the Recycled Art Project contest which is being held by The Keep The Colony Beautiful (KTCB) Board. All residents of The Colony can participate.

The theme for this year’s contest is “Holidays in TC.” Artists can share their vision of the city as they see it during the holiday season.

Any medium of recycled materials found in one’s personal recycle bin or during cleanup initiatives can be used in the artwork. Most of the artwork needs to be made from materials that are recycled although no food waste or hazardous materials can be used. Themes of The Colony, its attributes, landmarks, or other creative interpretations by the artists can be highlighted in the submission. Additional art supplies can be used such as Tape, glue, paint, twine, crayons, markers, and pencils.

Poster printing can be used to promote such contests throughout a city to attract artists and encourage contributions.

Artists need to submit an entry from with a maximum of three photographs by Monday December 1 at 5:00 p.m. The artwork itself needs to be dropped off at The Colony City Hall Annex on Mian Street between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on Friday December 5. Before the Annex opens to the public on Saturday December 6, the artwork will be judged.

Viewing of the artwork will take place between 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. on Saturday December 6 with the winners announced during the viewing.
