The Colony to hold annual cleanup day

Republic Waste Services and the city of The Colony will be holding a Citywide Fall Cleanup in October.

This is an annual event that takes place on Paige Road in the parking lot of Hawaiian Waters.

Participants will need to provide proof of residency with a photo ID or their utility bill. Trash and other waste materials – such as appliances, furniture, large tree limbs, scrap metal, debris from remodeling, fencing materials, and lumber – can be brought by residents for free and convenient disposal.

Additional free services at this event will include the collection of SUV, small truck, and car tires (up to eight in total); removal of freon from appliances; shredding of confidential documents; and electronics recycling of printers, monitors, televisions, computers, CD and DVD players, copiers, and computer parts and supplies.

Lithium batteries, hazardous liquids, and chemicals can be disposed of on the same day at the Household Hazardous Waste facility on North Colony Boulevard. It will be open the same hours as the citywide cleanup.

The bringing of canned goods as a donation to a local food pantry is encouraged. Local Print shops often assist in spreading the word to the community about such donations and where they can be dropped off using Posters, Flyers, and other printed materials.

This event will be held on Saturday, October 17 from 8:00 am to noon.
