Tribute to Iwo Jima memorial brings community together in The Colony

A handmade veteran memorial has recently been erected in a neighborhood of The Colony.

Tim Hall worked with his son and a few friends to create a rendering of the iconic Iwo Jima Memorial. Hall has a sign company and used 12-gauge steel from his company to make this artistic representation.

His goal in making this piece was to pay tribute to the historic Iwo Jima Memorial in honor of the recent Independence Day holiday. It was also designed to give thanks to first responders and active and retired military personnel for their public service.

Dozens of people from the community have visited the Hall residence to see the memorial and to sign it as well. Pictures have been taken for personal remembrances and posting on social media. One veteran of the United States Marines commented about the overwhelming support of the community in viewing the memorial.

The Hall family is now planning to donate the memorial to a veteran’s organization in the local area. They feel that having the memorial at their home has accomplished its goal of bringing people together in a positive way given the many conversations and large turnout.
