The Colony to host cleanup of city

The annual Citywide Spring Clean-Up will be hosted by Republic Waste Services and the city of The Colony later this month. It will take place in the parking lot of Hawaiian Waters, which is on Paige Road.

Those who participate in this event will need to show proof of residency. Items that can be brought for disposal include furniture, appliances, lumber, large tree limbs, fencing materials, scrap metal, and debris from remodeling.

There will be other free services that will be made available at the event. Residents can bring up to eight tires from cars, trucks, and SIVs; removal of freon from appliances; shredding of confidential documents; and recycling of electronics, including televisions and monitors, CPUs, computer supplies and parts, printers, CD and DVD players, and copiers.

During the Citywide Cleanup, the Household Hazardous Waste facility on North Colony Boulevard will also be open for the disposal of household hazardous waste including lithium batteries. Those who are planning to participate in either event are encouraged to bring canned good items for donation to a local pantry. This is not required but highly encouraged.

Local Print shops can assist in spreading the word about such events throughout a community with Flyers, Posters, and other printed materials.

The Citywide Spring Clean-Up will be from 8:00 a.m. to noon on Saturday April 19.
