Cigna Healthcare has selected the city of The Colony as a recipient of the Healthy Workforce Designation at the silver level. The city received this award for implementing a workplace wellbeing program that show a strong commitment to improving the vitality and health of its employees.
News of such designations is often made known throughout a city with poster printing.
Organizations are evaluated by Cigna Healthcare based on the main aspects of the program for wellbeing, including culture and leadership, the foundations of a program and its execution, accommodations and policies, and other areas. The standard of excellence for organizational vitality and health is set by organizations recognized with this designation.
The city’s wellness program began many years ago with walks outdoors during lunch and work breaks, where participants had the chance to learn more about personal wellbeing and health. The program has since been transformed into an app that is proactive in nature and encourages employees to undergo preventative care, obtain biometric screenings, and annual health assessments. Wellness rewards are given to employees for completing such annual activities in addition to undertaking healthy challenges and tracking their health habits.
The result of this program has helped to reduce the insurance loss rate for the city, which has enabled The Colony to maintain its affordable health insurance rates.
