The Colony Parks and Recreation Department recently announced that The Oak Ridge Boys will be performing at the American Heroes festival this year.
The recreation manager for the city, David Swain, said that people in general have already responded positively about the headliner. He added that efforts of the City Council made it possible to bring in The Oak Ridge Boys. Other performers will be part of the opening acts, but could not as yet be confirmed.
The American Heroes festival will include other events during the day. In the morning, there will be a 5K, 10K, and one-mile run, along with a car show, vendor area, carnival, and community stage with artists from the local area throughout the day.
A silent auction will be held with proceeds going to benefit Operation Comfort Warrior and 22 Kill. The former provides items to troops after they return home from a deployment while the latter raises awareness about the mental health issues of veterans.
Organizers of this sort of event often benefit from the use of poster printing companies to create Posters that can be displayed throughout the city to generate enthusiasm for attendance at this special event.
This is the 10th year for the event, which will take place at The Colony Five Star Complex on November 5.
