Shaka Hawaiian BBQ recently opened across the street from the Grandscape development in The Colony.
Welby Tsang, owner of the restaurant and an experienced restaurateur who has managed two of his parents’ Chinese restaurants in Phoenix, said his goal is to introduce a new type of barbeque to people in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. He added that not many choices exist in the area for Hawaiian barbeque and not many people are aware of its existence. He liked the concept after visiting Hawaii several times.
Flyer printing can be used for such special openings to make people aware of this different cuisine and its many offerings.
There are both high top and low top tables that seat 48 people in the restaurant. The décor includes a Hawaiian surf board, ocean blue walls, and driftwood accents. There are also four televisions in the space which broadcast the menu items that include crispy shrimp, slow roasted kalua pork, Korean-style kalbi short ribs, and combo plates with barbequed beef or sweet-glazed chicken, among others. All the dishes are served with steamed vegetables, pasta salad, and rice.
Lovers of Hawaiian cuisine can also feast on musubis on offer, which are blocks of rice topped with a protein held together with a band of seaweed and an egg and spam dish. Hawaiian Sun juices and teas, sodas, and fresh young coconut are among the beverage offerings.
