Burger eatery to come to The Colony

The first location of White Castle in Texas will be coming to the Grandscape development in The Colony.

White Castle, which is based in Ohio, is known for its sliders. These are mini hamburger patties in the shape of a square that have five holes in them to speed up the cooking process. The location will be near the corner of Grandscape Boulevard and Destination Drive.

The “sprinkling of the onions” followed this announcement. This is a tradition where onions are thrown on the ground where the grills will be before a new shop is built. Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform residents and visitors of such upcoming establishments.

Lisa Ingram, CEO of White Castle, said that for nine years she lived and worked in Dallas and has spent the remainder of her life in Columbus. She added that she has always had sliders in her freezer and knew that someday there would be a White Castle in the state of Texas.

The vice president of marketing for White Castle, Jamie Richardson, said North Texas was selected for the first location in the state due to population growth. Richardson added that many great people have moved into the area from other places.

White Castle is expected to open next summer and will employ 80 to 100 people.
