At the end of the summer, a concert commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Texas International Pop Festival will be held in Lewisville. Many from nearby The Colony will most likely want to attend this milestone event.
The original Texas International Pop Festival was held at what was once the Dallas International Motor Speedway with another stage on the shores of Lewisville Lake. Now, the site is home to several luxury apartment buildings and the train station, as well as being a historical marker.
The headliners of the festival will be ZZ Top and Chicago, with other musical acts including The Box Tops, Glen Clark Band, Edgar Winter, and Grand Funk Railroad.
This year’s concert will be held over two days, at the Lewisville Lake Park Golf Club, on Saturday, August 31 and Sunday, September. 1. Special events such as this one often turn to poster printing companies for advertising and promotion.
In addition, a pair of exhibits commemorating the 50th anniversary of the festival is being curated by the Denton County Office of History and Culture. There will be memorabilia, photographs, clothing, and other items from that festival. One of the exhibits will open in Denton at the University of North Texas on the Square on Saturday, August 17, and the other at the MCL Grand Theater in Lewisville on Friday, August 30.
