American legion has new home in The Colony

The American Legion Holley-Riddle Post 21 has recently moved into a new home in the old Denton County DMV in The Colony.

Here the members of the legion will be able to hold their monthly meetings, take care of their operations, and gather for fellowship.

The commander of Post 21, Richard Ensweiler, said the organization is very excited about this new space as it will enable the Legion to serve the community better.

There was a special ribbon-cutting ceremony for the opening of the new location. Post 21 Legionnaires, Mayor Joe McCourry who is also second commander, and members of The Colony City Council and The Colony Chamber of Commerce were in attendance. The mayor commented that the members are also excited about showing off the new space to the community.

The ceremony included the recital of the Pledge of Allegiance, the posting of the colors, and remarks by the mayor, Ensweiler and other Legionnaires. This was followed by refreshments and tours of the new space.

Veterans who have served the country during war or a time of conflict are members of the American Legion. They continue to give back to the community through fundraisers and special events. Post 21 holds one such event in conjunction with the city of The Colony on Veterans Day.
