Cabana Design District open for tenants in Dallas

The recent grand opening of the Cabana Design District at 899 North Stemmons Freeway is in the past and now the work of taking lease applications is underway.

Redeveloped by Sycamore Development and Hunt Capital Partners, the property containing the historic former Cabana Hotel has been transformed into a 175-unit multifamily development. Situated at the very heart of Dallas, the newly finished Cabana Design District is now an exciting mixed-income housing development.

Banner printing services are often employed prior to a residential development’s opening.

The Cabana hotel was constructed in 1962 and has a storied past with many of the rich and famous having been guests over the years, including Led Zeppelin, The Beatles and the Monkees. The recent grand opening brought community leaders and stakeholders together to celebrate the revitalization of the historic landmark. The renovations ensured that this piece of Dallas history was preserved and returned to its original architectural charm while providing housing in a range of price points.

At a cost of the $116 million the Caban building was updated to include amenities and 175 units of which 40 percent are reserved as affordable housing for families living on between 30 and 80 percent of the area’s median income. The project received $41 million in subsidies from the city of Dallas by way of the Design District Tax Increment Financing (TIF) District.
