Canadian bank to open regional HQ in Dallas
Scotiabank, more formally referred to as The Bank of Nova Scotia, has announced it will be setting up a major regional headquarters a little more than a mile from Stemmons Park at 2601 Victory Avenue here in Dallas.
One of North America’s largest banks, Scotiabank is headquartered in Toronto, Ontario. It was founded in 1832 and is recognized as one of Canada’s “Big Five” banks, with the others being RBC, BMO, TD and CIBC. The Bank of Nova Scotia offers commercial, business and personal banking as well as corporate and investment banking, and wealth management and private banking.
Scotiabank is making this move with the help of a $10,773,000 grant from the Texas Enterprise Fund, which Governor Greg Abbott explained as another step in his initiative to make Texas America’s new financial services capital. Terms of the deal include Scotiabank’s capital investment of $60 million. The bank will take up office space amounting to as much as 100,000 square feet and add an estimated 1,020 jobs in Dallas with wages averaging $135,000.

Dallas City Council approved an economic development grant in the amount of $2.7 million August 27 for use by Scotiabank and spread out 2028 - 2031. Additionally, the bank will get a ten-year property tax break and according to Governor Abbott it will have state tax refund eligibility.
