KTX Biennial to debut in Dallas next spring

An annual biennial public art event will hold its inaugural display along Katy Trail here in Dallas in 2027.

Organized in a joint effort by Amy Bean, the Katy Trail executive director, and Amanda Diallard Shufeldt, the Katy Trail art director, the city’s most popular jogging trails will be lined with art next spring. The news release stated:



"The KTX Biennial marks Texas’ first biennial of its kind dedicated to public art and provides an open-air platform for engaging with ambitious contemporary artworks, free and accessible to all."




Artwork curated by Jovanna Venegas, based in New York, will line the 3.5-mile former railroad corridor that extends through Dallas’ Uptown and the neighborhoods of Knox and Highland Park. Venegas will be asked to select and organize around a dozen newly commissioned and existing works of living artists from throughout the world.

New attractions or significant improvements to existing attractions are always a good reason to update information sent to a city’s chosen brochure printing services.

Organizers say the artwork will be totally integrated into the natural environment of the trail and additionally there will be panel conversations, public activities, educational programs and partnerships with local organizations and institutions. According to the city, this area attracts 2 million visitors annually.

Free and open to the public, the first ever KTX Biennial will make its debut in spring 2027.
