The Dallas Fort Worth International Airport has finished an important phase of its construction and done so in an historic fashion.
The first phase of the new Terminal F at DFW was completed with the placement of six prefabricated module structures, some almost football field in size, over a two-week period to form the terminal’s framework. Moving and placing the modules into position was accomplished by using self-propelled modular transporters along the airport’s taxiways. Once at their destination the modules were put onto the already constructed foundations at the Terminal F site.
Airports and other large venues can often benefit from the use of banner printing services.
This is the third instance where module-based construction has been used at DFW to expand or reconstruct its terminal facilities, although this recent use employed the largest modules to date. The Terminal F modules are about 4 times the size of those used earlier this year during the ongoing expansion of Terminal C.
The Terminal F expansion program’s first phase is expected to open in 2027 with 15 gates. Plans are for Terminal F to eventually have a total of 31 gates for use entirely by American Airlines. The terminal will also expand capacity for widebody aircraft and international operations, and feature areas to facilitate parking, check-in, ticketing, and security screening as well as baggage operation.
