Dream Caf moving from Quadrangle to Uptown location
A long time Dallas favorite, the Dream Café, which has been supplying diners with nutritious food at the Quadrangle for a third of a century, is moving to an even better location on McKinney Avenue.
According to Mary O’Brien, owner of the Dream Café, the eatery will be relocating to 2811 McKinney Avenue on the main drag that was previously filled by Christies Sport Bar. The new location is ideal as it keeps Dream Café Uptown while providing the restaurant with new or improved amenities such as a serene courtyard oasis.
Relocating a business involves using stationery printers so that all of its customized printed materials can reflect its new address.
The café’s relocation was promoted by developer Stream Realty Partners purchasing the center in 2019 with plans for a major project involving new retail space and a 12-story office building.
The Dream Café came about in 1986 as a quirky, quasi-hippy “healthy” place to eat on Knox Street. From Knox it relocated in 1988 to the Quadrangle where its affordable prices for good-quality food became a perennial pleaser. Its slogan, “We filter coffee, not people”, emphasized its wide appeal and diverse clientele.
The Café was one of Dallas’ first restaurants to create a brunch tradition and included outdoor patio space to provide the meal with extra seating.
The move from the Quadrangle to its new spot is anticipated to take place in early summer.
