What's Happening in Dallas, TX…

GEM to bring Pierogi and more to north Dallas

The Gourmet European Market (GEM) is planning to bring a decidedly European flair to Dallas by providing food products from throughout Europe particularly highlighting Germany, Poland, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Bulgaria and Georgia.

The new shop, which will open at 17435 Preston Road, is the brainchild of Ukraine native Yana Turliun, who moved to the city five years ago. In Ukraine, Turliun owned a pizza and sushi restaurant and brought that experience as well as a background in the hospitality industry and in yoga and nutritional education with her to Dallas.

She envisioned a concept that would be alluring to all nationalities while also, in her words:

“… introduce people to the European food standards that stress non-GMO, with less additives and less preservatives, and generally more wholesome and pure products."

Flyer printing services provide an easy and affordable way to introduce a new business.

The new store will offer canned vegetables, dry goods, meats, fish, cheeses, halal items, ice cream, aperitifs, wine, coffee and tea as well as snacks, candies, and pharmacy personal care items. Turliun explained that she is particularly proud of the planned for deli selection which will offer numerous fresh cut options for creating charcuterie boards. Plus, a commercial kitchen will be used to stock a frozen section with prepared meals, pierogis, vegetables, cakes and other eastern European dishes.

According to Yana Turliun she plans to open GEM in late July or early August.
