WalletHub - Dallas among best cities for U.S. veterans

Just in time for Veteran’s Day, WalletHub has once again compiled a list of the best and worst cities in the country for military veterans to live in.

This annual list of 100 of the largest American cities uses criteria such as the quality of local VA health facilities, veteran income growth, veteran unemployment rates, quality of life, local housing affordability and 14 other relevant metrics. On the list of 2025 "Best & Worst Places for Veterans to Live" Dallas garnered the 25th best city for the second year in a row.

Among the four primary categories Dallas ranked at No. 20 for veteran health, No. 41 with regard to quality of life, and took 44th place for how veterans are served by the economy and their employment.

Brochure printing services are used to help inform veterans of the services available to them.

Topping the list of best cities for military veterans was the Lone Star State’s capital, Austin, which occupied the same slot last year. Coming in at No. 2 was Tampa, Florida; followed by Madison Wisconsin at No. 3; and Raleigh, North Carolina and Colorado Springs, Colorado in the No. 4 and No. 5 positions respectively.

The DFW area was well represented with four cities in the top 25: Austin at No. 1; Fort Worth at No. 10, a big jump from last year’s No. 20; and Plano which was ranked No. 11; and of course, Dallas at No. 25.
