For the city’s eighth Branch Out Dallas, residents will be able to choose from Common Persimmon, Boxelder, Cedar Elm, Shumard Oak, and Roughleaf Dogwood.
A free five-gallon tree will be provided to Dallas property owners in addition to those who are billed for Dallas water. Supplies are limited so those wanting a free tree need to act promptly.
A release from the city explained how increasing the number of trees would make Dallas more sustainable as well as greener. The free trees have the potential to do more than improve the appearance of the city they can also cut stormwater runoff, lower temperatures by providing shade, off-set the heat island effect and improve air quality.
Finding locations associated with special events are made easier with the engagement of a banner printing service.
Since its inception in 2018, Branch Out Dallas has taken place every year since and as a result of the growing popularity and participation has become a part of Dallas’s annual celebration of Arbor Day. Online registration will remain open through September 30, as long as supplies hold out. Only one tree will be provided to each residence and at the time of registration participants will be able to choose their tree from those available plus the location where they wish to pick it up.
Those who have successfully registered for a free tree will be expected to claim their tree on November 7, Dallas Arbor Day, 9 am till noon.
