Wagamama chain slated to open Dallas location this year

The Asian-inspired international chain Wagamama has plans to open one of its restaurants on the ground floor of The Link at Uptown.

Wagamama will occupy one of the two spaces reserved for restaurants in the new 25-story office tower, The Link at Uptown, which is located between Victory Park and Uptown Dallas.

The international restaurant that specializes in Asian-inspired cuisine was founded in London in 1992 and has earned a reputation for excellent Asian food in an open and vibrant environment. In England, the chain’s menu is about 50 percent vegan; its serious plant-based eating commitment a response to climate change.

Presently there are over 200 Wagamama locations scattered through 27 countries. Six of those locations are in the United States. The chain uses flavors from Korea, China and Japan to create a unique take on Asian-fusion food.

A partnership was entered into by Wagamama with financial partner Conversion Venture Capital and operating partners Richard Flaherty and Robert Cornog Jr. Flaherty and Cornog, operators of the Punch Bowl Social chain, plan on a major U.S. expansion of Wagamama across the country, with an emphasis on the South and Southeast. Atlanta is the most recently opened location and tentative plans have been made for more locations in Arlington, Virginia and Tampa Florida.

According to a Wagamama representative, the Dallas location is expected to open by the end of this year.
