DFW’s high spot on the list can be attributed to its hosting of nine matches for the FIFA World Cup in 2026, which is the most of any North American city. Additionally, AT&T Stadium can accommodate more fans than any other venue for the 2026 World Cup matches with seating for 94,000.
As the NY Times mentions:
“That means, at least in theory, Dallas offers nearly 850,000 chances to catch the competition across five group stage matches, two round-of-32 matches, one round-of-16 match and one semifinal match.”
The time frame for the matches at AT&T Stadium are June 14 to July 14. Maps and programs supplied by Print shops can provide for large events spanning more than a few days.
Those unable to obtain a World Cup ticket can, according to The Times, still enjoy the festive atmosphere associated with the event. At Fair Park, the World Cup fan festival will provide rail-time viewing for soccer matches and live music for an anticipated 100,000 fans of the sport per day.
A local event The Times did not mention is the June 13 opening of Mandela: The Official Exhibition at Dallas’ African American Museum. The timing is apropos, as the former president of South Africa was also at one time a soccer player.
The World Cup matches are expected to pump $400m into the DFW economy.
