Dallas’s UT Southwestern Medical Center has continued its decade-long run of being judged the best hospital in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.
U.S. News & World Report has recently released its annual evaluation of almost 4,500 hospitals and UT Southwestern was once again named the best in the DFW area, as well as the second-best hospital in Texas. The publication lists the best patient care across 23 procedures and conditions and 14 adult specialties. For its 2026-2027 rankings, the publication has introduced regional rankings in heart and vascular surgery, cancer, orthopedics, cardiology, and rehabilitation.
It marks a 10th successive year of the hospital topping the DFW rankings. UT Southwestern was also named among the country’s best in 11 specialties, which outdid any hospital in the Lone Star State.

The hospital was ranked No. 9 for Neurology and Neurosurgery and came in 13th in Pulmonology and Lung Surgery, as well as Cardiology, Heart and Vascular Surgery. Southwestern also ranked high nationally in Gastroenterology and GI Surgery, Diabetes and Endocrinology, and Cancer, ranking No. 20, No. 21, No. 22 respectively as well, as being 25th for Rehabilitation, 26th in Urology, 30th for Obstetrics and Gynecology, and 38th in Orthopedics.
Another Dallas hospital, Baylor University Medical Center was once again the No. 2 hospital in the Metroplex, and was named the third-best hospital in Texas.
