SMU business graduates ranked third in USA for earnings

According to Venture Smarter, a business advice company, the Cox School of Business graduates at Southern Methodist University (SMU) are garnering the third-highest earnings in the county compared to other business school graduates.

SMU business alumni earned on average $51,068 in their first post-graduate year, which is 12 percent higher than the national average. However, four years after graduation the average earning of a SMU business grad jumped to 75% over the national average, reaching $105,314.

Schools often send positive information like this to printing services to be included in their promotional materials.

The other Texas University to make it into Venture Smarter’s top 10 list was another Dallas school, Neeley School of Business at Texas Christian University, which came in at No.9 with an average salary of $57,155 one year after graduation, and $93,488 at four years post-graduation.

The top two schools with the highest post-graduation salary at the four-year mark were the University of Virginia at No. 1 with $112,759 and Emory University with an average salary of $107,945.

The study also listed prominent alumni from the top 10 business schools, which for SMU included Alex Cruz, the former CEO and chairman of British Airways; Thaddeus Arroyo, Chief Strategy and Development Officer for AT&T; and Laura Bush, former first lady of the United States.

To arrive at average earning for business graduates throughout the country, Venture Smarter utilized data available from the College Scorecard tool of the U.S. Department of Education.
