Casey and Amy La Rue, the former owners of Carte Blanche, have closed their award-winning restaurant-bakery comb on Greenville Avenue, and will soon be opening La Rue Doughnuts at Trinity Groves in Dallas.
The couple closed Carte Blanche in early June after getting an offer from a restaurateur wishing the space for an eatery of his own.
Closing the Greenville location provided them with the financial freedom to change course so far as their business goes, allowing them to focus exclusively on operating a standalone bakery. La Rue Doughnuts will be specializing in house-made doughnuts at the former location of the Cake Bar at Trinity Groves.

In the three years they operated at the Greenville Avenue location, they accumulated numerous awards for both the restaurant and bakery side of their business, including a 2023 Tastemaker Awards nomination for Restaurant of the Year. Additionally, Casey La Rue received a Best Chef nomination, while Amy was nominated in 2021 and 2022 for Best Pastry Chef.
Unlike the Greenville Avenue location, where only two or three donut flavors were available per day, their new enterprise will offer brioche, cake, and old-fashioned doughnuts, as well as their signature crullers in a rotation of seasonal flavors. Unlike most doughnut shops, the La Rue’s make their doughnuts totally from scratch in house.
La Rue Doughnuts expects to open in late summer.
