What's Happening in Dallas, TX…

Dallas new home building volume in top 5 U.S. cities

The housing marketing in Dallas is tight, but a new report shows the city has not been idle; it has been successfully addressing the problem.

A recently released housing report conducted by ConsumerAffairs shows that, during the months of January and February 2025, new construction home sales and new building permits in Dallas were the second highest among U.S. cities. Out of the country’s largest 150 cities only Houston outperformed Dallas in this metric with 714 new home sales and over 9,800 building permits during that two-month period.

Both the construction and real estate industries have multiple use for professional printing services.

While demand has pushed the median price of a newly built home to $450,000 in February, making it the highest of all Texas metros that made it into the top 10, the city is working on the affordability angle. Recently housing code changes were approved to address the affordability issue. The ConsumerAffairs report explained that:

"The revision will allow up to eight dwelling units to be built using residential codes; previously, any structure with more than two units had to comply with the International Building Code, which is more complex — and therefore more expensive for builders to meet."

While Houston and Dallas top the list of cities in the United States when it comes to new home construction, San Antonio and Austin were also among the top ten coming in at No.8 and No.9 respectively.
