Of the people moving in 2022, a significant number chose Dallas. In fact, it was the seventh most popular relocation choice in the nation.
According to a report entitled “Top Moving Destinations” put together by Penske Truck Rental, Texas was the most popular choice for those switching states in 2022. Moreover, within the Lone Star State, four cities were listed in the top 10 of the nation's relocation destinations. Houston was the No. 1 city among those looking for a new place to live and Dallas was ranked No. 7. The two other Texas cities, San Antonio and Austin, occupied the 9th and 10th spots respectively.

The top five positions on the list were the aforementioned Houston in first place followed by Las Vegas, Orlando, Phoenix, and Atlanta in that order. Either side of Dallas were Charlotte, North Carolina at No. 6 and Jacksonville, Florida at No. 8.
Texas is no stranger to the Top Moving Destinations list; this is the second year in a row for Houston gaining the No. 1 position and in the 2021 report Dallas also had the same spot. San Antonio and Austin, while remaining in the top 10, each dropped slightly this year.
A similar report compiled by U-Haul and released in January confirmed that 2022 was the state’s second consecutive year being the No.1 state overall for inbound moves.
