BBQ University has come to Dallas

Backyard Pitmasters, a Houston-based company, has arrived in Dallas-Fort Worth area to conduct barbecue how-to classes that deal with topics such as how to smoke brisket as well as other meats the way the pros do.

Craft beer breweries will host the classes. Among the lessons will be how to choose and trim meat, wood selection, rubs, smoke profiles, starting and working with a firebox, heat management and the proper technique for slicing the finished product.

Hosting an event is a good way to promote one’s business and having a supply of Business Cards on hand to give out makes it even better.

Mike Albrecht and Jon Kane came up with idea for Backyard Pitmasters in 2016. The Dallas-Fort Worth market is their fifth with Austin, Houston, College Station and San Antonio started earlier.

In a statement Albrecht said:

"We created BrisketU because there was nowhere in Texas' competitive atmosphere to simply learn the best way to smoke a brisket in a competition-free, relaxed backyard environment."

The following craft breweries in the DFW area that have signed up to host classes include: Oak Cliff Brewing, Tupps Brewery, Rahr Brewing, Lakewood Brewing and Armadillo Brewery.

Throughout January and February six classes have already been scheduled. Ticket for the classes, which last three hours, are $79.

Backyard Pitmasters does private events and are looking to hire assistants at a $25 to $30 per hour rate.
