The Italian restaurant chain San Marzano has announced it will open a location in Dallas’ West Village neighborhood in the prime location formerly occupied by Public School 214.
A favorite in New York’s East Village, the Malekan brothers, Kamran and David, chose their restaurant’s name from a popular tomato grown in Italy. San Marzano became a neighborhood favorite in New York City’s East Village soon after its founding in 2014 due to its upscale-casual setting, well-made pasta and affordable prices.
Both banner and flyer printing are essential services for new eateries when they open.
The chain specializes in house-made pasta with a mix-and-match approach. Patrons can choose their pasta and then select from a variety of sauces and then add their toppings. Sauces include wild boar ragù, Bolognese, tomato-vodka, pesto, shrimp scampi and meatball with “topping” choices such as bacon, sausage, grape tomatoes and artichoke. Appetizers will include eggplant parm, Brussels sprouts, antipasto, and meatballs.
David Malekan, who has spent the last several years living in Dallas, understands the area and culture first-hand and feels San Marzano will be a good fit for the area and that the former Public School 214, which closed in the 3rd quarter of 2022, will be an excellent location.
Using the model it established in New York, the Dallas San Marzano promises in late summer to provide a “pick your pasta, pick your sauce, at a nice price” dining experience.
