DallasNow, the new system designed to cut down on bureaucracy and expedite Dallas’s permitting system will be getting ready in April for its launch in May.
The soon-to-be-launched system will be a single platform handling permitting, planning and platting along with engineering and inspections. Users will include contractors, property owners, and developers who will be able to electronically apply for, review and track their applications.
The city of Dallas requires construction permits for a wide range of projects large and small, including a home addition or adding on a garage. It is hoped that by reducing the long wait times created by a slow permit process that Dallas’s business-friendly reputation will be enhanced.
Banner printing services provide an excellent means of drawing attention to and identifying newly constructed or renovated structures.
Real-time notification will be sent to customers for inspection statuses, permits and itemized fee descriptions. How much this will shorten wait times is unclear; however, Deputy Director Vernon Young of the city’s Planning and Development Department has stated that DallasNow will be a “game changer.”
Between now and the launch of the platform young says city employees will be undergoing virtual and in-person training. Additionally, dedicated public workshops will be held. The present system will go offline beginning April 25 so the data can be transferred to DallasNow, which will launch on May 5.
