Speaking of these possibly life-changing scholarships, a director at the Western Golf Association (WGA), Mike Costello, himself an Evans Scholar, recipient said:
“For years, Texas has been an area of focus for us to develop youth caddie programs, and we are now seeing real momentum at clubs throughout the state.”
Evans Scholars Foundation supports the scholarship, which was started by Charles Evans Jr., otherwise known as “Chick”, an amateur golfer in Chicago in 1930. Recipients are supplied as much as $125,000 across four years and they can use those funds for both housing and tuition.
Banner printing services are invaluable for promoting fundraising events in support of scholarships.
The scholarship, which has since its inception graduated more than 12,000 youngsters the scholarship is available anyone participating in an accepted youth caddie program and who have served a minimum of two years and caddied 50 rounds of golf or more while maintaining a 3.0 GPA.
According to the organization they also offer students several not-so-obvious benefits that include the development of networking and communication skills and valuable work experience.
Three alumni golf events will be hosted by the WGA this fall in Austn, Houston, and Dallas-Fort Worth for the benefit of the Evans Scholars Foundation.
The Lone Star State is home to some of America’s most rapidly expanding caddie programs.
