Personal finance company WalletHub has ranked the country’s best large cities when it comes to starting a business in 2026, and Dallas-Fort Worth (DFW) is ranked nationwide at No. 11.
To arrive at the annual report’s rankings, WalletHub used 19 relevant metrics spread across three areas: access to resources, business environment, and costs. It then applied them to 100 large U.S. cities. Among specific factors considered were 2020-2024 job growth comparisons, office space affordability, five-year business survival rates, and population growth among 16-64 working-age individuals.
Dallas’ best ranking was for its business environment, garnering fifth-best in the country. In other areas, the city ranked 45th in “access to resources” and came in 64th in the category of “business costs.”
Chambers of commerce include information such as this in the information packs they send to brochure printing services.
Several factors have added to the city’s attraction, such as another WalletHub list earlier this year that ranked Texas as the third-best state for starting a business. Additionally, the Dallas suburb of Plano has garnered seventh place among the best cities in the country for finding a job.
On the WalletHub list, the top five U.S. cities for starting a new business were all in Florida and are Tampa, Orlando, Jacksonville, Hialeah, and in fifth place St. Petersburg.
