Spooky bar crawl comes to Austin

Austin residents looking for a scare -- and a drink -- can now enjoy both at the same time.

Nightly Spirits, a national ghost tour company, recently began offering its haunted bar crawl in the city. The program began at the end of September and is set to continue long after Halloween is over.

During the tours, participants are brought to four downtown bars, each of which is said to be haunted. The bar crawl offers themed cocktails, a detailed story of the eerie history of each bar, and the opportunity for plenty of chills and spooks.

Bars chosen for a haunted bar crawl can let patrons know of the event with flyer printing.

The four establishments included in the Austing Nightly Spirits tour are Waller Creek Pub, the Gatsby, the Russian House, and Buffalo Billiards, where the tour starts on the second floor. Tours are held Friday and Saturday evenings starting at 8:30 pm.

Tour guides will be dressed in costume and will be very knowledgeable about the haunted backstory of Austin. Although their tales will lean towards the spooky, there will be a bit of comedy thrown in.

There is only space for around 15 to 20 participants on each tour, so pre-booking is recommended. People can purchase tickets, which are $25 each, at the Nightly Spirits website. Drink specials are available a la carte during each tour.
