The Austin professional bull riding team is gearing up to thrill a hometown crowd for Gambler Days in August.
The Gamblers have two regular-season first place finishes in the Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Camping World Team Series. They joined the league in its inaugural season in 2022 and finished at the top of the standings.
Last year, the Gamblers were the first team to win four events in the season and then went on to finish first for the second year in a row. Their star rider, Jose Vitor Leme, posted the most qualifying rides and won series MVP for an unprecedented second year. However, the team has yet to capture the championship, having previously come up short in the playoffs.
The PBR association started in 1992 and the sport quickly became popular across the country. As a fan favorite rodeo event, bull riding has since evolved into a national team sport where cowboys compete in five-on-five bull riding games. Just like a rodeo competition, it is scored when a rider can hang on the back of a 2,000lb bull for the often elusive eight seconds.
The league includes 10 teams whose riders compete for overall points that determine the seeding for the final championship playoffs in Las Vegas.
In addition to regular admission, enthusiastic fans can purchase suite and box seats for PBR Gambler Days, which also includes musical entertainment and a Western lifestyle expo.
Sporting teams are known for giveaways at their events and often provide loyal fans with Promotional Products from area printers.
PBR Gambler days will be held August 23-25 at Moody Center.
