New identity for Austin half marathon

The newly branded Austin International Half returns next month with the same course and race experience.

The only difference is the name. Formerly called the 3M Half Marathon, race coordinator High Five Events had to make a late change to the event name after long-time sponsor 3M withdrew.

Known for its exciting predominantly downhill course, the race welcomes everyone from attempting their first half-marathon to elite athletes seeking a personal best. The speedy 13.1-mile course starts in north Austin, passes through neighborhoods and the campus of the University of Texas before ending downtown. Runners will cross the finish line and be greeted with a celebratory atmosphere, with live music and cheering fans.

Aid stations with water and medical assistance will be available at a number of locations along the route, made possible with the support of as many as 600 community volunteers.

The event also features a relay division in which members of a team of two can each complete a portion of the distance.

All finishers will receive a medal, a running hat and a commemorative patch. Plus, there will be some surprise items in the participant's goodie Bags. Businesses who sponsor events such as this often use area Print shops to create Promotional Products to be used as giveaways.

The Austin International Half will be held Sunday, January 19, 2025. Registration, course maps, and spectator information are all available on the event website.
