Austin will kick off the festive season with its 30th annual Holiday Tree Lighting, Sing-along and Stroll.
Presented by the Downtown Austin Alliance, families can enjoy a visit with Santa, and a holiday market with vendors, artisans, and food trucks as they stroll through the downtown core. Businesses that participate in community events such as this often have Business Cards printed for distribution to potential clients.
In addition to organizing special events, the alliance is an advocate for Austin’s downtown through a variety of other projects and services. Working with stakeholders, it supports the vision of a safe, clean, vibrant area that encourages people to visit its shops and restaurants.
As one of its main services, the alliance places a daily team of 75 ambassadors in the downtown area each morning for street cleaning and to provide information services for the public.
The upcoming holiday event will feature a downtown main stage offering a variety of musical entertainment, as well as a sing-along, a holiday costume contest for dogs, and a countdown to the festive tree light-up.
Entrepreneurial students from the Ascent Academy will be on hand with their own ideas developed through participation in the school’s business fair. After lessons in creating and marketing a business, it will be an opportunity for kids aged 6 to 14 to bring their products and services direct to the public.
The Austin Holiday Sing-Along and Stroll will be held Saturday, December 7 from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Congress Avenue.
