Electroluminescent puppeteer group to perform in Austin

A group of puppeteers that uses unique electroluminescent puppets will perform in Austin in January.

The group, known as Lightwire Theater, is based in New Orleans. It primarily consists of co-creators Corbin Popp and Ian Carney, who met on Broadway, and their wives. They created their puppets through shape and design experiments with a battery-run product known as “el wire”.

Their performances include their special puppets as well as dance sequences, storylines, and music. They have performed these to many audiences around the world including those in China, Canada, Estonia, France, Belarus, and the United Arab Emirates. In addition, they have performed on such popular tv shows as America’s Got Talent and Tru TV’s Fake-Off. In the former, they reached the semi-finals and in the latter, they won first place.

In Austin, the group will perform its new show The Adventures Of Tortoise And Hare: The Next Generation. This performance will feature a continuation of the classic Aesop’s Fable The Tortoise and The Hare that will have the children of the titular characters embarking on their own adventure.

Performances will be held on January 9 at 2:00 pm and 4:30 pm in the Paramount Theater, which is located at 713 Congress Ave. More information about events like this are often spread around Austin with the help of brochure printing companies.
