A duo bringing together the unlikely combination of hip-hop and modern classical music will be performing in Austin this February.
Featuring Abraham Alexander as a guest artist, Black Violin with be calling in on Autin for the Experience Tour.
Black Violin comprises Kev Marcus and Wil Baptiste, both of whom are classically trained violists and violinists. The unusual pairing of classical and hip-hop results in a multi-genre sound often referred to as "classical boom."
The group marked its presence in 2015 with the release of “Stereotypes,” a Universal Music debut, featuring collaborations with MC Pharoahe Monch and Black Thought of The Roots. This album reached the Billboard Chart's number 4 spot for R&B. “Take The Stairs” followed in 2019, and the duo’s most recent album is 2020’s “Give Thanks.” Notably, Marcus and Baptiste prioritize educational outreach, consistently performing for over 100,000 students annually.
Tickets for the Austin show will cost between $34 and $149 based on seating area, and can be purchased through the Long Center Listing. Military and group discounts are also available for this event.
