The Austin venue Come and Take It Live will be host to a performance by the band Dragonforce this April. This performance will be a part of the band’s Extreme Power Metal Tour.
The London, England base, which was originally called Dragonheart, was formed by the guitarists Sam Totman and Herman Li in 1999. Often named as one of the big four power metal bands alongside Helloween, Sabaton, and Blind Guardian, they are perhaps best known for their single “Through the Fire and the Flames.”
Many labels have been used to describe the band’s music. One such label is “Nintendo metal,” no doubt to describe how the guitar playing of the two lead guitarists, coupled with use of keyboards and synthesizers, resembles the sound of an 8-bit video game.
In total, the band has released a demo, a compilation album, a live DVD, eight studio albums, and two live albums. One of these albums, ‘Inhuman Rampage’, reached gold status. The band has also been nominated for a Grammy Award because of the single “Heroes of Our Time.”
