Austin's own Paramount Theatre will host a performance by the American singer-songwriter Don McLean. This performance will be a part of the singer's 50th Anniversary 'American Pie' Tour.
McLean is best known for his masterwork, 'American Pie.' The eight-and-a-half-minute piece speaks about the loss of innocence through the use of music history and Americana imagery. It sat at the Number 1 spot on the Billboard 100 for around two weeks in 1972. It has also had a total of five million airplays, as certified by BMI. It was also the longest song to hold this spot for this length until a Taylor Swift release broke this record in 2021.
Other popular songs of McLean’s include 'Wonderful Baby,' 'Dreidel,' and 'Vincent'. The latter of these was written about the 19th-century Dutch painter Vincent Van Gogh and reached No.12 on the Billboard Hot 100. Musical influences of the artist include Frank Sinatra, Buddy Holly, and the Weavers.
The performance will take place on Sunday, June 26 at 713 Congress Avenue. The doors will open at 6:30 pm and the show will begin at 7:30 pm. Tickets can be purchased on the Paramount Theatre website. There is a clear bag policy for all theater events. Venues such as the Paramount Theatre have often found that poster printing services can help promote their events.
