Belonging, friendship, and fun at Oktoberfest in Austin

For over 200 years, the famous festival originating in Germany has been celebrated in Austin. The Oktoberfest event attracts thousands of attendees from across the state and beyond.

Presented by the German-Texas Heritage Society, the festival takes place in the center of Red River Cultural District. The historical German Free School, surrounded in terraces of gardens, will host the event.

Entertainment adds to the enjoyment of the afternoon. Performer line-up includes Walburg Boys, Off the Grid and Austin Polka Band. German food favorites along with beer and other drinks will also be available. The local saying “those who wear, care” can be seen as attendees wear authentic Lederhosen and Dirndl.

Vendors often use the services of local Print shops to handle business card printing for events of this type. As hundreds of people come by a booth or exhibit space, handing out Business Cards can create awareness of products and services, and may generate future sales.

Partners participating in the Oktoberfest include The German Gourmet, Silke’s German Cookies, and the famous pretzels of New World Bakery. Volunteers are needed to assist in various areas of the festival, and can sign up via the event website.

The 2020 Austin Oktoberfest will take place October 10 beginning at 11:00 through 7:30 pm. The German Free School Building is located at 507 E 10th Street.
