Music collectors and dealers will gather next month for the twice-yearly Austin Record Convention (ARC).
Vendors who attend events such as this often use printing services to create materials to professionally describe their collectibles.
The ARC began in 1981 as a record swap meet that was immediately successful. It has since evolved into a full weekend of music appreciation, offering many formats including all sizes of vinyl, 8-tracks, cassettes, compact discs and more. Music memorabilia, Posters and other souvenirs are also displayed at the show.
ARC is known to be the largest sale of recorded music in America, with exhibition space of more than 40,000 square feet and featuring as many as 300 dealers from around the world. It attracts not only large-scale dealers but also one-time vendors such as those who have items from a personal collection or inheritance. Attendees include avid collectors and enthusiasts perhaps looking for a rare or unique item, as well as other curious music lovers.
First held at the Zilker Clubhouse, the event was soon too big for the small space and was moved several times over the years. At one point, it appeared the vinyl music format may become defunct, which would have subsequently made the show less appealing. However, the industry experienced an unforeseen resurgence in the popularity of vinyl records and ARC continued to grow.
The spring convention will be held May 2-3, 2025 at Austin's Palmer Events Center.
