The Austin Hot Sauce Festival will celebrate its 35th annual event next month.
Presented by the Austin Chronicle, the spicy event features fresh and bottled hot sauces from Texas and other states. The competition will name the most flavorful and the hottest creations. Hundreds of sauces are entered each year, with as many as 10,000 people attending the festival.
Ticketholders will be able to sample hot sauces throughout the day before voting for the people’s choice award. In addition, the top three commercial, restaurant and individual sauces will be crowned. These winners are chosen in advance of the festival by a panel of culinary judges who make their decisions based on heat, flavor, and originality.
Other food and cold drinks will be available, and a variety of live musicians will entertain the crowd.
Attendees can also get fired up about supporting the community, as $5 from every ticket goes to the Central Texas Food Bank. Since 1990, the festival has assisted in providing over one million meals to the charity.
Many of the hot sauce competitors offer their fiery blends for sale so that people can stock up on their favorites. Vendors who take part in events similar to this often have Business Cards available to promote their products.
The Austin Hot Sauce Festival will be held on Sunday, September 7 from 3:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the Far Out Lounge and Stage.
