Austin Race Challenge pays tribute to Boston marathon victims

A tribute was paid to the Boston Marathon victims when runners spent 24 hours running around the Camp Mabry loop in Austin Texas. The Back on My Feet in24 Austin Race Challenge was delivered by ACE Cash Express and featured runners who wanted to pay tribute to the victims of the Boston marathon bombings.

Runners covered 1,790 miles over a 24 hour period at the Texas National Guard Headquarters based in Austin. Back on My Feet is an organization which uses running as a way to help homeless people to support themselves, to achieve employment and be able to live independently. The 10th chapter of Back on My Feet was launched in Austin in January 2013 and the event is one of the first that the runners have faced. The winner of the male ultra-marathon, Doug Long, ran 110 miles and won the first prize of $1,500. The female winner of the ultra-marathon also won $1,500 after running 81 miles. The female and male runners which came in first, second and third place all won a cash prize. Back on My Feet is partnered by ACE Cash Express which is eager to help those who are homeless to regain financial independence and self sufficiency.

Back on My Feet has received lots of support from other partners, along with media exposure. It is possible that with the banner printing skills of a local Print company, the organization will receive more support and help. Rather than providing food and shelter for those who are homeless, the organization provides job training, coaching and access to other resources to aid independent living.
