Austin puts on field show

C3 Presents and the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center are showing Bruce Munro’s Field of Light in October.

Born in London in 1959, Munro is an artist known for constructing immense exhibitions that mainly featured the use of light. His most admired piece of work is “Field of Light,” which is an extensive site-specific fixture that changes color, which gives the illusion of a shimmering field of light. The art piece was first exhibited at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2004 and featured 5,000 elements from the British luxury store Harvey Nichols.

Field of Light comprises 28,000 intense fiber-optic light stems that are solar-powered. It will illuminate 16 acres of the Texas Arboretum in a showcase of the connection between technology, art, and nature.

General admission costs $45 and includes free shuttle service to and from the venue. Tickets for children 10 to 4 years old cost $20 and do not grant access to the VIP area. VIP tickets cost $80 and include a dedicated entrance, on-site parking, and access to an elevated viewing area. Food and drinks will be on sale. Part of the proceeds will go towards the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center.

Graphic design is a great way for organizers to increase interaction and provide information about an event such as this.

The exhibition will be on Saturday, October 15, at 8:00 pm at 4801 La Crosse Avenue in Austin. Visit the event listing for more information about the exhibition or to purchase a ticket.
