Spartanburg starts program to train nursing assistants

A new initiative between the Spartanburg Academic Movement, OneSpartanburg Inc., and Spartanburg Regional Healthcare System has been announced that will expand the talent pipeline of certified nursing assistants (CNA) in Spartanburg County.

This will be a cohort-based program with the first cohort to be a mix of interested residents in Spartnaburg and the county and current employees of Spartanburg Regional. A primary feature of the program is that it use a model of learning earning while learning where participants attend classes while working directly with patients. Tuition assistance will be given to participants who will benefit from the guarantee of work placement while supporting the goal of offering rewarding careers within the Spartanburg Regional system.

Details about such new programs, how to enroll, and their benefits for a community can be provided with flyer printing.

The chief operating officer and chief nursing officer for Spartanburg Hospital for Restorative Care, Karla Lamb, said that this partnership reflects the commitment which everyone shares to strengthen the development of the workforce in Spartanburg while supporting the health care needs of the community. She added:

“CNAs play a critical role in caring for our patients, and by investing in their training, we strengthen the care experience for every person we serve.”

The first cohort of 32 members will begin their training in June.
