A new public comment portal has been opened by the Spartanburg Police Department as part of its accreditation process.
The Commission on Accreditation for Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) Public Comment Portal is being used for this feedback. This public comment portal was designed by CALEA to receive input from the community about delivery of public safety services, engagement within the community, the compliance of an agency with the standards of CALEA, and its overall candidacy for accredited status. Members of the community are encouraged to provide both their concerns and their commendations.
Flyer printing is frequently used to inform residents about such portals, helping to garner broader feedback from the community.
The purpose of the process of accreditation is to provide participating agencies with valuable information that enables an agency to continuously improve and to encourage the pursuit of professional excellence. This objective is advanced with the public comment portal as it promotes involvement from the community and transparency.
An automated acknowledgment of receipt will be sent to an individual after a submission. There will be no follow-up communications or individual responses. All comments will be reviewed only for their relevance to CALEA accreditation standards and the principles of law enforcement excellence. No deadline for submissions has been provided.
The Spartanburg Police Department is a nationally accredited agency through CALEA.
