The “Sparkle City Slider” has been added to the shuttle service of the city of Spartanburg.
This is a vehicle that can hold 14 people who can be transported to local retailers or restaurants or to a baseball game at Fifth Third Park. There is no charge for this service, which is designed to offset the loss of parking due to ongoing construction. Christopher George, a spokesperson for the city, said the service will continue as long as these projects are underway, adding that its use so far has exceeded expectations.
Hours of the shuttle service are from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Additional hours include Monday through Friday from 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. People can be picked up on West Main Street at Rockers Brewing Co., on Wall Street, and at the parking garages on Dunbar and Kennedy Streets.
A complimentary valet service is also stationed at the intersection of Magnolia and Dunbar Streets. Its hours are from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Thursday through Sunday and 5:30 to 9:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday.
Such services can benefit from brochure printing to provide more details on hours, locations, and other special amenities.
There are still over 3,300 parking spaces in downtown Spartanburg, which includes parking garages that charge 50 cents per hour, with the first two hours free, and up to $4.00 per day. Parking is also free on weekends and after 5:00 p.m. on weekdays.
