These parts are currently made in Santa Clara, California at one of its factories. The production of these parts will stop by 2027, after which the site will be sold.
A cutting-edge facility will be built in Greer and will be the first facility of the company in the state. Residents of nearby Spartanburg will benefit from the 275 jobs that will be created as a result of this new building. Banner printing is often used at such sites to inform residents and those in neighboring communities of such projects and the employment that they bring to the area.
Flight-control systems for military helicopters and aircraft, including components used on the Airbus A350 and other parts will be built at the new plant on the Smith Farms Industrial Park, which is expected to cost $200 million.
President of the Aerospace segment of Woodward, Shawn McLevige, said:
“Moving this production to Spartanburg will help refine our manufacturing footprint to best support our customers and improve our supply chain as we meet increasing demand for industry-leading controls on current and next-generation commercial and military aircraft.”
This factory is expected to become operational in the summer of 2027.
