An apartment development of townhomes is planned for the east side of Spartanburg near the intersection of Skylyn Drive and Drayton Road.
Such sites frequently use banner printing to notify residents about these upcoming projects and their advantages for the community.
It will have 110 townhome units, of which 12 will be workforce housing units for those making below 80 percent of the median income in the area and 88 of which will be market rate units. The project is expected to cost $22.4 million.
The project is being led by developer John Montgomery from Drayton Townhomes LLC. The city will be annexing the property and offering tax abatements as incentives. The project will include infrastructure improvements at the intersection made by the developer.
A spokesperson for the city of Spartanburg, Christopher George, said the project will continue the redevelopment of the area which once was a mill community. He added that this new development is also near the Daniel Morgan Trail System which covers the entire city and neighboring communities. He said that such proximity to outdoor amenities like this are valued by both the developers and the residents of the developments,
Montgomery expects to break ground on the project by the end of this year with an expected completion date of the middle of 2027.
